DILIGENCE
Diligence has a small difference from dedication. Dedication refers to the commitment to work hard at work, but diligence means to be industrious in everything in life. Many people can be dedicated at their workplace, but they do not want to work hard at home, or they are lazy to exercise and do not take care of the family. They excuse themselves that they are exhausted after work.
On the other hand, diligence means working hard in many aspects of life. People can be diligent in exercising, practicing the piano, doing homework, helping with the housework, gardening, cleaning up trash on the street, joining charity activities, promulgating patriotism, practicing a religious life, writing literary works, etc.
The will is supported by good karma, wisdom, or sentiments. Love, resentment, or right understanding all help create the will.
When we know something is right, we try to do it, and that is the will made by wisdom. Meanwhile, doing something due to our affection or hatred is the will created by sentiments.
Good health can create a better will. A weak person will also tend to feel lazy. Vietnamese traditional medicine believes that malfunction of the kidneys also leads to a lazy psyche. Thus, we should try to exercise regularly to stay healthy, so that we can always stay diligent.
Diligent people easily win others' respect, and the lazy are easily disrespected. Laziness prevents one from contributing to the community, thus, one's blessing shrinks quickly. As the blessing is over, that person will receive contempt. Sometimes, people even conclude that the lazy are evil. He is evil because he lets other people do hard work for him.
If we recognize that we are not diligent, we must change it immediately, because it is a very big mistake in our life. We must practice or pray or do anything to become very diligent people. We need to be diligent in doing good deeds not only now but also in many lives later.
Diligence differs from passion. Passion is to work very hard on what we like. Diligence does not require a passion, we just do it because it is the right thing to do.
A diligent person is the one who has a strong will to conquer his instinctive laziness. Besides, being constantly diligent brings joy, as long as we do not exhaust ourselves. The psyche of diligence is created by two factors: one is the will of our spirit, the other is physical health.
