When we have an altruistic motive,
we often have special research and invention to undertake. Many entrepreneurs started their life with the dream of doing good for life.
START UP
The reunion party of my classmates was touching. It had been twelve years since the day they graduated and left the university. Each person now had his or her own family, circumstances, career, and worries. They talked non-stop with their friends. The story began with college love, then turned into the start-up.
Bình circled his glass and said:
"We only realized it now that all our youthful dreams were idealistic and not a bit practical."
Lân said:
"I had always planned to establish a series of agricultural materials stores within 10 years' time. But I am still a technician in a company."
Hương added:
"Most of us could not accomplish our goals, but why is so Bằng damn successful like this. Let him say something."
Everyone turned to Bằng. Bằng timidly said:
"My friends, I remembered the day we graduated and had a party. Each of you shared your plan to do a startup, each with your own extravagant plan. I did not really understand what you talked about. I just got that all of you were wrong somehow. You only talked about your own benefits, not about society's benefits."
"I just thought about how I could benefit life first. Eventually, I chose to solve the garbage problem to protect our environment. So, I learned about plastic chemicals. Then I collected many samples of garbage to study and searched for the methods to treat and recycle them."
"Unexpectedly, it was so complicated to treat plastic garbage. That was why not many people have invested in this field. There were too many kinds of plastics, with different formulas. The ink of label printing had polluted their ingredients and made them more difficult to recycle. I tried and tried until one day I could handle all the problems of plastic garbage and set a process to treat them effectively. I called for investment funds. At first, I had little capital funds, so I made a small business to treat and recycle plastic garbage. Because I went in the right way, my business developed well later."
"Nowadays you hardly find plastic garbage on the streets and the beaches, because my company bought them all. Many people are earning their living by collecting plastic garbage, cleaning them, then selling them to my company. The products which come from recycled plastic have stopped the imports of the raw plastic material and help the nation to reduce import spending."
"I only had a dream to do good for life, so I chose the work of protecting the environment, but it happened that a lot of good things returned to me."
The friends made a fuss, saying:
"Why did you call us to invest together?"
"Because I had heard all of you have your super plans already..."
"Why did you scold us when you noticed that we were wrong. So now you are rich alone hu hu..."
Everyone has his own plan to earn a living at the beginning stage of life, but each different motive will lead to a different result. Most all people think about their own benefits when choosing a start-up, not many people choose the purpose of doing good for life. The law of karma is fair. He who is altruistic will be compensated well.
If the whole society has start-up businesses with altruistic motives, the country would make extreme progress. Humans' relationships will be better too, and the market would not be a battlefield anymore. Businesses would support each other and not fight anymore.
