THE SECRET OF SUCCESS

The young man insisted, so Mr. Tuong stopped and asked:
• What do you want to ask me?

The young man responded:
• Dear Uncle, my name is Canh and I'm in charge of organizing a year-long forum, both online and offline, on the topic "What is the secret of success?" The discussion will include all of the country's youth unions. When I was researching your biography, I discovered that you are a perfect example of success. I'd like you to give me your time to talk about the success so that I can study it further and disseminate it to the country's young people.

Mr. Tuong paused for a moment before saying:
• Then I will schedule an appointment with you, Mr. Canh, for tomorrow at 2 p.m. in my office.
The next afternoon, Canh and his four friends arrive at Mr. Tuong's office early, bringing with them portable filming and recording equipment.
Canh asked the first question:
• You used to study very well, didn't you?
Mr. Tuong responded:
• I was the worst student in the class.
Surprised?
What university did you attend?
• Because I failed the university entrance exam, I learned to become a mechanic.
• So your family must be wealthy, and you inherited their fortune.
• My family was the poorest in the neighborhood. We occasionally became so hungry that I had to beg my neighbors for rice.
• So, your wife’s family was very rich, and they provided money for your business start up?
• My wife has been an orphan since she was a child.
• Or did you win the lottery?
• I was not lucky enough like that.
• So, from whom did you learn the secret of success? You used to be a mechanic, and now you are the owner of a strong corporation with approximately 10,000 workers.
• I was poor, and my clothes were ragged and patchy. How could I meet the rich to ask for their secret of success? I only learned the "secret of failure" from the homeless.
Everyone in the room was astounded by this odd answer.
• Could you please talk more about this so we can get your point.
• Initially, I had a passion for learning famous people's successful secrets, as you guys are doing now. Unfortunately, no one would accept me. It occurred to me that if I couldn't learn the secret of success, why didn't I learn some causes of failure? More losers existed around me than successful people did, and I could easily access them.

Therefore, whenever I had some free time, I wandered around looking for the homeless to give them some cakes and ask them about their lives and losses. I could draw many hard-learned lessons from their failures.

Some of them failed because of their arrogance. They wanted to prove themselves better than others could.

Some people failed because of selfishness, just plundering for their own benefit. In the end, everyone turned away, lost cooperation, and went bankrupt.

Many of them failed because they didn't focus on working. They just achieved a little success, and they enjoyed pleasure too much; finally, their capital drained out of them.
Some people fail because they subjectively believe in people too much, so they are deceived and robbed of property without any evidence to sue.

Some of them failed because they invested in areas where they didn't have any expertise. They went technically wrong and created defective products that the market rejected.
Some people fail because they only use relatives and do not hire qualified people. This siphoned off the company's profits until it went bankrupt.

The others failed because they produced what they liked without considering what society needed. As a result, their products could not be sold.
Some people fail because of a string of bad luck and accidents. This appears to be spiritually difficult to explain.

There are numerous reasons for failure, which I meticulously documented in nearly ten thick notebooks. Following that, I began my business cautiously by doing good things first. This is because many people believed that they failed since they were less willing to do good things. Everything was messed up, their minds were foggy, and they couldn't find a way out. So, I fixed damaged roads, raised funds for flood relief, picked up trash on the street, taught mechanical skills to young people who wanted to learn a trade for free, and so on.

Then one day, an apprentice asked me to join him in setting up a mechanical workshop with his parents' sponsorship. I thought good luck would naturally come to me. Then, during the start-up, I thoroughly avoided making the mistakes that the losers had made. I have tried to keep myself ethical and careful. I have learned goodness from others. I have taken good care of my employees and helped everyone with whatever I could. More importantly, I'm never complacent.

Naturally, all the good things come to me gradually. I repeat, good things continue to come to me, not because I am good at creating good things...

Avoiding failure is essential to achieving success. You must humble yourself and learn from "losers" if you do not want to fail. The number of people who fail is far greater than the number of people who gloriously succeed. Learning from the wealthy instills in us excitement and an eagerness for success, whereas learning from losers instills in us a sense of caution and modesty.
