OUR BRAINS ARE ALWAYS WORKING
Because of the natural structure of their brains, people are always thinking and even have stress.
Humans think their thinking is an advantage and have taken advantage of the restless thinking of their brains to develop the world. With their learning, discoveries, and inventions, men can fly to Mars, to the edge of the solar system, or can dive deep under the sea, etc. And it is thought that our brains' non-stop working is an advantage. However, in addition to the thoughts beneficial to our community, we also have evil and wrong thoughts that make us wicked and cause suffering to others and all sentient beings in the world.
Thinking makes people valuable and broadens their knowledge but also makes them miserable if they don't have any right thoughts.
For example, there was a couple, and the wife kept begging her husband to buy a car even though they didn't have much money. Loving his wife, the husband managed to do everything and they also got a car. At that time, having just gotten a driver's license, the wife got in the car for a test drive. "Bang", she crashed into a wall and the car was badly damaged. She immediately thought of being badly colded, because her husband worked very hard to get the car. Hearing the "bang", the husband rushed out of the house. The wife was ready for her husband's wrath, but he quickly hugged her and said, "Are you okay? How lucky. Better lose our money than lose your life." The wife immediately relieved the burden.
A normal person, the wife thought that everyone loves their property, especially one bought buy money earned from blood, sweat, and tears. She thought that her husband would speak harshly to her but the husband thought that better lose money than lose his wife. The husband had the right thought to not get angry with his wife but be happy instead when the car broke down but his wife was still okay.
Because of his right thinking (mindset), his family continued to be happy. Everything that happens is due to our thinking (right/wrong/good/bad) and our lives will change accordingly. That's why Buddha teaches us that it's important to have the right thinking (mindset), but how?
- How to have the right mindset
Buddha teaches that to have the right mindset, one must have the right views first, meaning that one must have some right views about life, morals, philosophy, and everything else. How do we get these right views? We must learn. Learn from sages, venerable masters that have been tested for a long time in history.
For example, Confucius said: Don't do anything that you don't want others to do to you. This has been tested over the centuries and is recognized as a truth.
That is the right view and we must learn it.
Buddha teaches us about the Law of Cause and Effect (the Karma Law): we reap what we have sowed. If we bring happiness to others, luck will come to us; If we cause suffering to others, we will experience unhappiness. This fairness is not immediately accepted by everyone; Only those who have spent years contemplating many things in life know that it's true that life has a secret justice that governs all, that is the Law of Cause and Effect.
From many teachings of sages, we can establish our own view of life, which Buddha calls the right view. And when we have the right view of life, we can change our wrong thoughts into the right ones. For example, we've just got angry at someone, and checking with the Law of Cause and Effect, we know having anger is wrong, so we replace anger with love.
The inner battle to have the right mindset is extremely hard. People keep trying to find the right mindset, then overcome their lowly status to become noble people in life.
Those who have only the right thoughts in their heads only say and do good, beneficial things for life. All the sages in the world have always dreamed of it and have been searching for a way of making their minds always think right. For what? For the benefit, morals, and happiness of the people around them.
