Deep moral thoughts bringing wisdom, thoughtfulness, and success in life and business

WHAT DEEP MORAL THOUGHTS BRING TO US?

When something comes to us, we have to find out its cause and effect and treat it with thoughtfulness and gratitude, and we are said to have deep moral thoughts. And the result is we will become wise and sharp and successful in doing business, according to the Law of Cause and Effect or the Law of Karma.

Assume that you lived in a big city and an acquaintance in the countryside asked to stay in your house for a few days for a job, for medical treatment, or for their child to take an entrance exam. They didn't rent a room to save money. Knowing they were not bad people, you agreed to let them stay with you for a few days. You were quite kind to do so. However, this good job was not enough to decide whether your standard of morality was high or low; it also depended on how you treated them.

If you were a moral person, you had to make a careful arrangement before their arrival. You should predict how many people would come and which room would be convenient for them. If you thought that it was all right for poor countrymen to sleep anywhere, even under the stairs, for a few days, you had a low standard of morality and shallow moral thoughts. A high-moral person would have a different treatment. Even with his acquaintances, he would make careful arrangements for their stay.

If your house had only one vacant place, you should clean it up and see if they used the bathroom conveniently. And since they were poor (that's why they wanted to stay in your house but not rent a room), you should tell them, "You don't have to eat out, join us." Your thoughtfulness in treating a guest proved that you had deep moral thoughts. And according to the Law of Karma, you would be talented and successful in life. Later, when doing anything, you could think of three or four steps ahead.

For example, someone came and said, "Now you and I contribute money together to buy a piece of land and then build houses and sell them for a profit." It sounded then build houses and sell them for a profit." It sounded simple, but you should think further by asking such questions as what is the contribution of each person, has that land been planned, will the houses be built in accordance with the needs of society, and will the architect be able to design houses that bring comfort and convenience to the buyers,... (it makes us unblessed if the buyers are unhappy to stay in our houses).

The person who asked you to do business with him only thought about buying a piece of land, building houses, and selling them for a profit. And you thought if the customers would be happy with the houses. This was a moral thought but also shrewdness in doing business, and it has value.

When you asked the houses to be designed intelligently to bring maximum convenience to homebuyers, it was unexpected that the people living in that house were too happy with their houses, hence recommended them to others. They would tell their guests every detail of their houses and praise the construction investor for his thoughtfulness. Since then, rumors spread far, and your business got better. Thus, your thoughtfulness for others brought luck to your business, and you would become talented and successful. It's the way of the Law of Karma.

So, except for the elderly whose profound thoughts are expressed through their effort in spiritual practice, young people must avoid shallow thoughts in morality first. We must be helpful and thoughtful, and doing this, later when we start our business, we can be extremely thoughtful, and our products and service will be beyond our customers' expectation. And of course, we will succeed greatly.

In business, there is a thing called after-sales service. This is great vision of genius strategic traders. Now we just follow it and don't understand that after-sales service required excellent minds. However, if you think it's enough to provide goods, services, and after-sales service, you are still not thoughtful; you should think of something more profound than after-sales service.

For example, if you sell packaged coffee, think about where should the buyers put the coffee grounds and the packages. If you can deal with these two things, you will be successful. Never let your customers do whatever they wish to your products, and you don't feel any responsibility toward them after taking their money. Instead, think about what the coffee grounds can be used for, how to collect them, and how to recycle or treat the packages so that they won't pollute the environment. It is both the protection of the environment and the thoughtfulness of the business.

When providing a service or a product, we have to think of three or four steps after selling it; do not stop your responsibility right after you receive the money from your customers. We should be responsible to the customers more than they expect, and thus we will surely succeed.

It goes the same for officials. Officials must take care of the people, and if an official is more dedicated to the people than expected, he is an elite official of the country. To do more than others' expectations, we must stop thinking shallowly right now and must practice dealing with people, friends, parents, and others, and thinking about everything three or four steps ahead.

Three or four steps is for an average person; intelligence politicians often think of 50 to 100 steps when they devise a strategy for a nation. They contemplate the plan and what if the enemy does this and that... It's like they are playing chess.

In the past, when Mac Dinh Chi, a famous mandarin and diplomat of the Tran dynasty in Vietnamese history, played chess, he knew he would lose, win, or draw in the next 16 moves. It's good for ordinary people to see three, four steps in advance, and their wisdom start to develop. However, more importantly, we have to care about our morality rather than intelligence or talent.

Assume that you had a classmate who studied quite badly and the end of term exam was approaching, what should you do? As a rule, if he failed the exam, he had to take another. However, you knew that he was very ambitious and not lazy but was facing some problems that prevented him from having time to study. According to the regulations of the school, one mustn't cheat, and thus your classmate would fail the exam. You then decided to help him pass the exam first then spend two months helping him improve himself. This way of help is called to have deep moral thoughts.

Or, in a semester exam, a friend who sat beside you couldn't answer a question, and he asked for your help. You didn't help but was a bit angry because you wondered how he could become a teacher if he couldn't answer such a question. And you thought that a low score would make him study harder. However, you didn't see him on the graduation exam and knew it was because he didn't pass the semester exam.

You should have helped him first and then made a complaint, and you would have easily talked him into studying harder. If you don't help someone but advise that person to try, will he listen to you? Of course not, and it's a shallow thought.

This story reminds you to never give a shallow thought to anything in life. Anything because it seems like a good idea on the surface but sure to be problems, and mistakes leave us lasting remorse. Only those who don't have shallow moral thoughts will be wiser and wiser.

Here is another case of shallow moral thoughts. You may see small arched bridges in some countries through movies. In the old days, it was so good to have such bridges. However, if you think about it harder, you will find the builder's thoughtfulness.

Because with the slope of such a bridge, carriages could not pass, people with heavy load couldn't, either. The ancients relied on the law of centripetal force and built bridges very high in the middle so that they would not collapse and also let the boats go below easily. Because the bridge was so curved that people were very hard to go across and even horse-drawn carriages couldn't. This was called shallow thoughts, and the builder of the bridge was also blessed but not much.

Nowadays, engineers have better ideas about building bridges. They created a gentle slope to bridges, and the feet of bridges are not located on the riverbank but very far away. Thus, the length of a bridge is no longer equal to the width of the river; it is three times longer. Everyone can easily go across the bridge, even one with a heavy load or even horse-drawn carriages. The bridge is three times longer, and the builder earns the blessing 30 times or even 300 times greater for their thoughtfulness.

It is our thoughtfulness for everyone that brings us an outstanding blessing that makes us become extremely intelligent in doing business as well as everything in life. If we become spiritual cultivators, we will also be incredibly profound. In this way, the cause of stopping shallow moral thoughts helps us become thoughtful and talented in life and in spiritual practice.
