The mother took her daughter's hand and asked:
"You and Phú have two children, but why does it seem that Phú is always uncomfortable with you?"
The girl burst into tears:
"It's my fault. I got pregnant with him, so he had to marry me. But that night when we were first together, he realized that I was no more a virgin. Grandma always said that all men want to make love with their girlfriends, but expect their wife to be a virgin. This idea is unfair, but it is their mindset."

Grandma taught me to avoid sweet words from men. I have never let myself fall into a dangerous situation that a man could attack me."

"But I did not realize that I could live decently because grandma had taught me so carefully, so I did not teach you as seriously as I had been taught. Man is demanding of his wife's virginity and also very jealous in love. His jealousy arises when he imagines about his wife's love affairs in the past, the present, or even the future. If he knows his wife had dated any other men before him, he can be obsessed and silently jealous of that his whole life. If his wife lost her virginity before him, the jealousy could become resentment and serious disrespect. All men on Earth, including the Westerners, have this habit. That explains why in Western countries where men and women like to cohabit, marriages are easy to collapse because they have no deep respect for each other. Perhaps they do not admit it, but unconsciously, Western men also despise a wife who had a sexual relationship with someone else before them.
That was about being jealous of his wife's past love affairs. Men can be jealous in the present because they are afraid that their wife is easy to fall for another man. They are also jealous when they imagine a future where their wife will love someone else. The wife feels hurt because such jealousy proves the man's disrespect towards his wife. However, if the wife is not cautious, she might indeed have a love affair one day, because a human's heart is hard to say.
