The rich usually find somewhere "worth living" to buy houses,

because of beautiful scenes, nice weather, comfortable and modern utilities. However, the places worth living in are places where people can show each other their respect and kindness. A place worth living in is not a place where people compete with each other to get rich. It must be a place where the rich and the poor live together in a respectful and helpful way.

A man respectfully giving money to an elderly woman on a quiet street

GIFT

Hoàng pulled his car over. He got out of the car and went to an old beggar. After saying "hello", he respectfully put the money into her hands. He also said something in her ear and then left. The old lady looked up with her dull eyes, and moved her lips, as if to whisper something...

Hồng asked:

"Why did you have to go through all those troubles just to give that beggar some money?"

Hoàng replied:
"It's my happiness. If I give people money without respect, I can't sleep at night."
"But it seems to take you more time to do that."

"Yes. I spend a little more time doing that, but I also don't have many chances to gift a lot of people. So, every time I do I try to give them with a respectful attitude. I'd rather not gift anyone than gifting them while making them feel very small. When my father was alive, he taught us very carefully about how to give a present. I always remember what he said."

"Your father must be wonderful."

"Sure. He is a Saint in my heart. He taught all of us every single beautiful thing in life. Every time he bought us cakes and candies, he also bought more to give to three poor families in my neighborhood. He asked me to bring cakes and candies to them and say something kind. For example, I shouldn't say that they were poor, so we wanted to give them something. But, I should say that even though they didn't need it, we loved them and wanted to share with them what we had. His moral teachings are now in my blood. Although my parents died a long time ago, we are still following their lessons. We believe in the justice of life. If we live a moral life, as my father did, we will be successful. Sometimes, we may face obstacles or we may be harmed, but some lucky things will help us overcome that."

"If you have time to come to my office on the salary day, you can see me personally and respectfully giving each and every employee their wages in envelopes. They receive salary, as well as the gratitude of their General Director. Some employees found other jobs with higher payment and they left, only to return roughly two months later. They said the payment was high but they didn't feel happy working there. It was really hard for me, because the vacancy was already filled by others."

"My happiness in life is to help people, to give people as much as possible, with deep respect. I'm still single just because no one can accept my way of living."

Hồng smiled and said:
"If I were single, maybe I would accept your very interesting life. The people in my company are not very close. Perhaps it's because my director is too indifferent."

There's an old saying that "It is not important what you give, but the way you give it." If we have profound morals, we should help people in need with respect, as if they don't need to receive, only we need to give. We should never help them in the way of almsgiving. With respectful gifting, we make people valuable.
It's not easy to give others our own things, and how to give skillfully and respectfully is even more difficult. But, just as 5 to the power of 2 is much greater than 5 multiplied by 2, when we give with respect, the returned blessing will be amplified to the power of 2, instead of just multiplied by 2. A respectful attitude going along with gifts we bring to people helps make life worth living.

Happen to be born human
Tears are mixed with enjoyment
Little kindness, we all need
Spring comes in the morning sun.

What can we see in our eyes
Going through life, all must cry
Love each other, move forward
All sorrow please left behind
