Education is responsible for developing human resources who are
capable and moral for the country. If we have people with low competency and morality, our country is still at the low level of development. On the other hand, if our people are highly competent and moral, the country will surely be highly developed. And if we have excellently competent people with great morality, the development of this country will be even higher.
EDUCATION FIRST
The Prime Minister cleared his throat:
“ I'd like you to tell me your idea about building up our country to be as strong and prosperous as any strong country on this planet. Each of you can give a 5-minute brief talk. The best idea will be analyzed in the next conference held by me before we carry it out. I'd like the Minister of Trade to start first. ”
Each Minister briefly talked about their ideas, according to their own point of view.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs talked about setting up good international relations with foreign countries to open global exchanges.
The Minister of Industry and Trade said that a system of effective logistics would greatly enhance all other activities.
The Minister of National Defense supposed that businessmen should be as brave, smart, and devoted as soldiers.
The Minister of Transportation said that if there was no movement of people and goods, society would get stuck. Thus, effective transport is a golden key.
The Minister of Public Security stated that people would fully invest their money in business if the society is safe and orderly. It’s necessary to keep society safe and in order, then everything else would be developing naturally.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development showed his idea that improperly exploiting natural sources is a cause to come to a deadlock. Everything should be smartly farmed to replant under the system of control.
The Minister of Education and Training postponed his talk till near the end:
“ Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve been listening very carefully to you all since the morning. I admit that all your statements are right and helpful to our country. ”
“ However, who is supposed to carry out your ideas? Who is competent enough to implement your programs? Who has enough patriotism, morality, knowledge, wisdom and determination to unite the whole country to execute those plans? ”
“ Many hostile forces are still trying to weaken our country. They have tricks and schemes to divide our people. They use all means possible to destroy patriotism and demoralize the ideals in the youth. They attract talents away from our country. ”
“ They use money, affection, fame, enjoyment, or even religion to lead our people to their way. When the youth no longer love this country passionately, they won’t feel enthusiastic about working hard to build up the country. Whatever job they take, they want a high salary. They just sow a seed and immediately want to get fruit. How can such people create innovations and inventions to move our country forward? ”
“ I want to emphasize that the human factor is the most important. All Ministries and Departments need outstanding employees, who are moral, talented, and loyal to work for our country. Until you have that kind of employee, your ideas will not be successfully carried out. ”
“ To have that kind of person, our educational system needs to be extremely effective and outstanding. To have effective and outstanding education, we need a brilliant person to take this position. That talented Minister of Education and Training should be able to see from the kindergartens, from the elementary schools in the countryside, to every Ph.D thesis presentation in every department. That talented Minister should be able to design the best program, the best textbooks, and be able to train teachers who are excellent in all aspects. From there we will have outstanding students. ”
“ I’ve been in this position for years, and I know I’m not the talent whom our country needs. I’ve tried my best to accomplish my job while looking for a suitable candidate to promote... ”
The Minister of Education and Training soon exceeded the 5 minute limit, but he still continued for another 30, and nobody minded. They were fired up by his burning statement. When he finally said thanks, they were all awake, and shouted with joy, “Yes, you’re right. EDUCATION FIRST.”
