Our morality and wisdom must be nourished through each small act. This is because things are not as small as they are.

THINGS ARE NOT AS SMALL AS THEY ARE

Phong texted his friends while they were sitting at the same table in a coffee shop:
"We should find a way to help Kỳ as he keeps failing in his life. Poor him!"

All five friends replied "Okay", except for Kỳ, who was sitting there, but bewildered, and knew nothing.
Then they all asked Kỳ about his business and analysed the causes of his failure. Kỳ candidly told them everything that had happened to him. He was such a miserable man. Although he worked very hard, he constantly got bad luck, then failed. Even his wife also left him. Everyone promised that they would try their best to help Kỳ do well in business. Kỳ was really touched.

They said goodbye to each other. When all left, Phong secretly texted the friends, except Kỳ, to come back to the coffee shop for further discussions.

Phong said:
“I already found out the causes of his failure. He always skips small details. This makes a lot of people fail if they don’t pay attention.”

“When he drinks, he ignores the water dropping down from his glass and never wipes the table off. When he throws trash out of the bin, he doesn’t care to pick it up. He also sits on the newspaper with an image of a respected figure after reading it. This causes him to inadvertently make a mistake of offending others. Even when a waitress serves him a drink, he doesn’t say “thank you.””

“Although we sat here for only a short while, I could recognize his indifference to work and morality. If he wants to change his current situation, he needs to change himself first.”

Bình added:
“I also saw him putting his feet up on the chair, stretching his legs towards people sitting on the opposite side. He didn’t know that he was offending them.”

“If we want to help him, we need to stick to him and remind him of any small, but inappropriate behaviours. Only when he can thoughtfully pay attention to every small deed, can he get success.”
We usually drink water and leave some in the bottle. By doing so, we make two mistakes: wasting clean water and littering. Those mistakes have been recorded as negative points in the book of our life.
When sitting in coffee shops, to feel comfortable, we may put our feet up on the chair and stretch our legs toward the passers-by. By doing this, we accidentally “trample” on the passers-by with our inappropriate action. Of course, this mistake is also added to our book of life.

When we hear others say bad things about our country, instead of arguing with them, we just listen to them attentively and do nothing, as if we agreed with them. By doing this, we make the mistake of being ungrateful to our ancestors. Not doing the right thing is also a fault, which is also a bad mark of our life.
Day after day, since our every small mistake piles up constantly, we gradually lose our value. Thus, as a matter of fairness, we have been set aside by the universe. That’s why we experience failure in life.

Sometimes, the reason making many people successful in life is not because they are enthusiastically working towards their goals. In fact, it’s only because they do every small thing in a very thoughtful and appropriate way. These subtle and moral acts help them gain more value in life. What they do right and moral every day helps them become successful.

The fact that illustrations of respected figures are being thrown around is a common disaster in our society. We can see illustrations of the Buddha printed on soy sauce bottles, or pictures of Jesus printed on T-shirts. Additionally, illustrations of respected leaders are printed in newspapers, and then thrown away carelessly. All of these ignorant acts are mistakes that make our life more uncomfortable.

Our morality and wisdom must be nourished through each small act. This is because things are not as small as they are.
