To justify ourselves properly if we can.

It would not help if we blindly ignore others’ wrong thoughts about us. If they misunderstand us, then once they learn the truth, they will feel guilty. Therefore, if we have any chances to let them know the truth, we should do that at all costs, which can help others avoid an undeliberate sin.

INJUSTICE

The investigator asked:

“ You're a person who took the victim to hospital? ”
“ Yes. ”
“ Did you hit her? ”
“ No. While passing the street, I saw her lying down in the middle of the road, alive, bleeding all over, but still breathing, so I hurried to take her to hospital. ”

“ My colleagues went around the scene to ask people if they saw someone hit her. They all said no, and they even didn’t see you hit her. But only your scooter was at the scene. How can you explain that? ”
“ I don’t need to explain anything to you. I’m only the guy who saved her. It’s your business to find out who hit her. ”

“ She’s unconscious and cannot talk to us. In the meantime, we need you to stay in town and cooperate with us. ”
“ Yes, I will. ”

Minh got out of the police station, while Van was waiting for him outside. She said:
“ In the USA, people would call 911 when they see accidents. They’re afraid of getting in trouble like this. ”
“ I know. But she was severely injured. If I was to call the ambulance, she might have died. I’d rather be misunderstood to save her life than let her die. ”

In life, sometimes we are misunderstood and treated unfairly. That’s normal. We could probably tell ourselves that we might have also treated someone unfairly in the past due to some misunderstanding. However, how we react to such situation is very important.

There are two cases of being misunderstood. First, we are misjudged for no reason. Second, we accept an injustice for something nobler. The above story mentioned the acceptance of injustice to save a life. It is a good motive, so the main character was calm to accept it. If that was not a good motive, he must have been very much sorrowful. Some people suffered from injustice but they couldn’t justify themselves and then they committed suicide.

There are many kinds of people who cause injustice to others.
One type is to exaggerate a small misunderstanding due to their stubbornness.
Another type is to harm others on purpose, causing the victim to be desperate.

Sometimes, injustice is planned on an organizational scale. Some political parties try to make up stories to defame their opponents. Some foreign organizations try to manipulate other countries by making false stories about the government and call for an international agreement to interfere in those victim countries with violence.

Sometimes, injustice is just as non-serious as friends tease friends for fun.
Everyone can be a victim of injustice. Living in the world, we should train ourselves to have certain abilities to endure injustices.

The first ability is to stay calm. If we are not guilty, we should fear nothing and be at peace. We feel miserable because we do not want people to think badly about us. If we can calmly accept the unexpected situation when people think bad about us, we will not feel tortured.

The second ability is to have nonaggressive reactions. When bad people cause injustice to us, they want to see our stupid reactions. Thus, it is smart to avoid doing anything stupid. Instead, we should stay easy and calm. Aggressive reactions will only harm ourselves more. We should never chew them out because it can make us unvalued and make people believe that we are wrong. We need to keep our dignity intact.

The third ability is to justify ourselves properly if we can. It would not help if we blindly ignore others’ wrong thoughts about us. If they misunderstand us, then once they learn the truth, they will feel guilty. Therefore, if we have any chances to let them know the truth, we should do that at all costs, which can help others avoid an undeliberate sin.

In daily life, we also pray for the Above to help us treat others with justice. Why do we need to pray to the Above? That is because right and wrong are the matters that go beyond people’s wisdom. It would help if we stay humble and pray.
