It is very hard to live responsibly. It may be very difficult to do so, but after many years, we will see happiness. A responsible person is the one who brings joy to others, limit his fun, and the law of karma will surely award him in return.

In law and in philosophy, there are two things that always go together, Duties and Rights. When we fulfill our obligations, we deserve to receive rights. If we pay tax (Duty), we deserve to live in a comfortable society (Right). If we complete military service (Duty), our families deserve to live in a safe country (Right).
Duty and Rights are fair and reasonable.
However, human beings are naturally selfish; we want to seek benefits while avoiding obligations. We want to be happy without any contribution. That is immoral. Those with ordinary ethics will try to calculate their duties and rights in ways that they aren’t at a loss.
Those who are highly moral will prefer duties to rights. They understand that the extra duties will become their blessings later on. They understand that their dedication will make their soul peaceful and happy.
With such a realization, they will always fulfill their obligations to take care of the community. They take care of their families well, do more than what is asked of them at work, or give a hand to a neighbor before they have even asked.
There is one other reason that makes a person live responsibly. It is their love for humankind. They love their family, colleagues, neighbors, society, and country. Love makes them help and take care of others.
They go beyond their scope of responsibility and help others with their work. For example, a father works all day to support his family, but doesn’t hesitate to help out with house chores. A government official picks up trash around his neighborhood after his work hours. A businessman plants trees in his spare time.
They all do more than they are obligated to do. They have love and are responsible.
There are two factors that contribute to a responsible way of living. The first is compassion and the second is fulfilling one's duty for family and society. In addition, one should go beyond their duties.
What is duty? Duty is looking after those whom we care for and those whom we are responsible for. Duty is also about completing the tasks that were assigned to us.
If we want to live responsibly and take care of the people we love, we must give up many of what gives us joy. Those who indulge in their own joy can never be responsible people. If they are addicted to alcohol, gambling or sex, then there is no space in their mind for their parents, spouse, children, society and country.
It is very hard to live responsibly. It may be very difficult to do so, but after many years, we will see happiness. A responsible person is the one who brings joy to others, limit his fun, and the law of karma will surely award him in return.
